Do you have an in-house caterer or do I need to provide my own? Even if there is an in-house caterer, do I have the option of using an outside caterer instead?

Our partner for all food and bar service is Myer's Catering, whose 4,000 square foot catering kitchen is right next to the West Room. We don't allow outside caterers, though you are welcome to bring in desserts from an outside vendor.

Is my catering contract with the Boylston Rooms or with Myer's Catering?

Your contract is with Myer's Catering. Food and bar service for your event will be managed and coordinated directly through Myer's Catering.

Question 3

If I have a guest with dietary restrictions, do I need to change my buffet or can a single plate be made?

Accepted Answer

We want your event to be fun for everyone and being able to partake in food is part of that! You do not need to alter your menu for guests with specific dietary restrictions. The exception to this is if you have a guest with a life-threatening airborne food allergy, in which case that item would need to be removed from your menu for safety.

Can we do a food tasting before we finalize our menu selection? Does it cost extra?

Is there a beverage minimum?

There is a $500.00 minimum for cash bars. There is a $500 setup fee for a second bar. Included in the cost of a cash bar is glassware, liquor, a bartender and all permits/liability.

What's the tax and service charge?

All menus will have a 7% MA sales tax and a 20% service fee.

All menus are charged an 18% gratuity.

Do you offer gluten free options? What about vegetarian or vegan options?

Accepted Answer

Myer’s Catering makes the majority of their food from scratch, which gives you more options with regard to ingredients. There are dishes that are explicitly designed to be gluten free, vegan, or vegetarian, but Myer's can also modify many existing dishes to be more diet friendly, either as buffet options or as individual plates for specific guests. Requests for individual plates or food modifications must be made in advance.

Are tables, linens, chairs, plates, silverware, and glassware provided, or will I have to rent them myself?

White china, white or ivory chair-length tablecloths, any color napkins, silverware and glassware are all provided with catering at no extra charge. White garden chairs, chiavari chairs, long tables and round tables are also included.

Is there a cake-cutting fee? If I use a cake made on site is the fee waived?

There is a $2.00 per person cake cutting fee for cakes provided by outside vendors if it’s a large cake that needs to be plated and served to guests. This fee does not apply if you just have a small cake for the “cut the cake” moment and that cake won’t be served to your guests. This fee is also waived if your cake is purchased through Myer’s Catering.

Question 11

Can we bring our own wine, beer or champagne? What about hard liquor?

Outside alcohol violates Myer's Catering liquor license. If your wedding party or guests bring in outside alcohol, you may be fined.

Question 12

Are there additional charges for bar staff?

Accepted Answer

No. There are no additional charges for bar staff at our bar in the West Room.

Question 13

Can I get a second bar outside for cocktail hour?

Accepted Answer

Yes! It's $500 fee for a second bar set up.
